Why add a QR code to the invoice

Printed invoices often end up in the box. A QR code turns that sheet of paper into a direct link back to the order.

Fewer where-is-my-order emails

Customers who want an update scan the code instead of writing to your support inbox.

Invoices packed with the parcel

The invoice inside the box stays useful after delivery, because it still leads to the order online.

Checking back later

Weeks after the purchase, the customer can find the order again from the paper invoice in seconds.

What the QR code invoice shows

The layout carries the usual invoice detail, all filled from the Shopify order, plus the code.

  • A QR code built from the order status URL
  • Store details, address and currency
  • Invoice number and order date
  • Billing and shipping address
  • Line items with SKU, variant and quantity
  • Discounts and discount codes
  • Subtotal, tax, shipping and total
Make it yours

Make the QR code do what you need

The code is an ordinary editor component, so you can change it along with the rest of the layout:

  • Point the QR code at another field or a fixed link you type in, such as your returns page
  • Resize it, move it or add a short line of text telling customers what it does
  • Add your logo, colors and fonts
  • Place order metafields or line item properties on the invoice
  • Show the order total written out in words where that is expected

Yes. The QR code component takes any field from the order or a fixed value you type in, so it can point to a returns page, a review page or anything else.

No. The template uses placeholders, so each invoice gets a QR code for its own order when it is generated. You set the template up once.

Built-in labels such as invoice number, totals and notes can display in English, German, French or Turkish, depending on the document language you choose. Text you type yourself stays as written.
